Mars Wins First Career Late Model Feature at Red Cedar
The Red Cedar Speedway featured the Randy Buss Ice Breaker Classic Season Opening event Friday April 12. It had been several years since the speedway was able to have a season opening event so early in April.
Nick Panitzke and Sam Mars led the field to green and the TL sinz late model feature event. Panitzke shot out to the early lead as Mars challenged to the inside early. Panitzke would continue to lead running his preferred higher line on the track. Mars closed and charge the corner hard and shot to the inside of Panitzke was able to gain full control of the lead. Mars would not look back and secured his first feature win in the late model division at the Red Cedar Speedway followed by a late charging Chad Mahder, Panitzke, Tyler Peterson and John Kaanta would rounded out the top 5
The Southworth Chevrolet Modifieds had a familiar face at the front of the field, Kevin Adams. The famous 40 car hit out to the early lead over Kennedy Swan and began to set a torrid pace. Through many caution breaks Adams would continue to lead, a late race caution would setup a green white checkered shootout. Swan would not give up and pushed Adams hard but Adams was just to strong and went onto the feature win, followed by Swan,Cole Chernosky, Shane Halopka and Dan Larson Jr.
Jesse Redetzke and Terran Spacek, Two of the top contenders in the Union Trailer and Power Equipment Super Stocks Weekly at the speedway, would lead The field to green. Redetzke would jump out front early as Spacek pursued. Spacek would continue to pressure Redetzke as Matthew Larson and Curt Meyers made their way to the front also. Spacek would eventually jump to the inside of Redetzke, as he made us move for the lead Redetzke bobbled and tagged Spacek spinning him. Redetzke was charged with the caution, and Spacek retained his spot as the leader of the race on the restart Terran would not be challenged Meyers would jump to second, followed by Larson , Dan Nissalke And Ron Mahder
2023 Wissota Midwest Modified rookie of the year. Blake Adams took the early lead in the Tim’s Automotive and Machine Midwest modified division. Blake appeared to be well on his way to a feature win when a late race caution changed everything. That would see Jason VandeKamp jump to the outside of Adams in the restart and take control of the lead out of turn two. Adams did everything he could to get back by VandeKamp, but VandeKamp would not be outdone as he crossed the line 1st followed by Adams, Landyn Randt, David Simpson and Steve Haas.
The Conrads Auto Salvage Street Stocks have provided some excellent racing action over the years at the Red Cedar Speedway, and Friday night would be no different. Cody Kummer Took the early lead it but wasn’t long before seventh starting Andrew Hanson began to close and pressure Kummer. While the front two battled Jeff Eckdahl started to run down the front two. Lap after lap Kummer lead with Hanson in tow. When the white flag fell Hanson was there and ready to charge as they went into turn 3 Hanson charged into the corner to make his move but a slight bobble from Hanson lead to contact with Kummer spinning him. Hanson was tagged with the caution and Kummer was ruled the winner. Followed by Eckdahl, Kyle Genett, Brayden Brauer & Danny Richards
